Based on the novelists’ works, it covers various aspects of Seoul, including the youth generation, food, industrialization, residents, and drinking culture, along with discussing what modern and contemporary novels mean to contemporary Koreans.

Inspired by Tolstoy’s last novel, Resurrection, and set in contemporary Sri Lanka, the film explores the workings of conscience in a world where social class facilitates the oppression of women. The main character, Suwisal (Ravindra Randeniya) is a successful, middle-aged company director with a melancholic personality and a forgetful mind. His life is suddenly upset when he is called to serve on a jury at a murder trial, whose defendant is a young sex worker accused of murdering a client. Suwisal recognizes her as Piyum (Swarna Mallawarachchi), the young servant from his aunt’s house, whom he knew twenty-five years ago. He had a sexual encounter with her and she became pregnant, yet he refused to see her again. The trial soon acquires considerably more complexity.
